Grade 3 Unit Overviews for Families Now Available

We’ve recently made available four new short handouts that you can send home to Grade 3 parents to introduce Bridges Units 5–8. Our hope is that these unit overviews will be a useful resource to you and your students’ families through the end of the school year. Each unit overview identifies the key learning objectives for the unit, provides solutions and explanations for sample problems, and addresses the most common and pressing questions parents may ask about the unit. These overviews are a nice opportunity to communicate with parents at the beginning of each unit, and the FAQ on each overview may help you feel better prepared to talk with parents about some of their questions about the unit.

Unit overviews are currently available for Grade 4 and Grade 5 and can be accessed on the Bridges Support for Families pages. We will be adding overviews for Grades K–2, as well as for Grade 3, Units 1–4 in the coming months.

Thank you so much for the overviews. They are really great to have! We find them so benifical for to introduce the units to our parents.

We are considering piloting Bridges during the next school year. Is there any chance any of the getting started workshops will be held in the Chicago area?

Getting Started workshops are furnished automatically when a district purchases Bridges in Mathematics. With a given number of kits, the workshops are free of charge to individuals or the district. The workshop leaders are classroom teachers who have used the program for a number of years with students in their own classrooms and are located across the country. We have a large cadre of leaders so it is assured that we will be able to have a leader available during the time that a district would want their professional development to occur.
