Number Corner Grade 2 Advice for March

Kids often respond enthusiastically to the fractional parts challenge of this month’s calendar markers. I have found some teachers find these markers confusing in terms of how to write them. You do not have to convert improper fractions to a number (3/2 to 1 1/2). We often do that in adult life, and some of us were trained to believe an improper fraction must always be converted to a mixed number, but there is no rule that says you have to. You will also find 3/3, 4/2, 4/3, and 4/4 this month. Leave them in this form when you write them out.
