Math Poems

April is National Poetry Month. In celebration, consider sharing some math poems, perhaps even carrying one with you on April 14 for Poem in Your Pocket Day.

Read from Marvelous Math: A Book of Poems, selected by Lee Bennett Hopkins. Or join in with a student to read aloud from Math Talk: Mathematical Ideas in Poems for Two Voices.

Perhaps you'll want to borrow an idea from Brimful Curiosities blog and ask students to illustrate a poem. Or, after reading a few verses from Mr. R.'s World of Math and Science, children may be inspired to write their own math poetry.
