Summer Math Fun: Resources for Families

During summer break, parents may seek online resources to engage children in math skills review. As you prepare your summer newsletter, consider including a Summer Math Fun! handout, highlighting several free math game sites. If you post the PDF on your classroom blog or send it in an email to families, they can click directly on the embedded links. Parents and other caregivers can access additional lists of games on the Support for Families pages, by grade level.

To encourage daily math discussions, families may also enjoy Bedtime Math. This free site posts a new problem for children to discuss each night, just as they might engage in a story before bedtime. Three levels address children at various ages: preschool, K-2nd, and 2nd grade and up.

This is a great list of resources for lower and middle grades.  I also collected a set of online math resource links when my kids were in high school and preparing for college level math and science classes.  My list became unwieldy, so I created a blog and organized all the resources by subarea (algebra, geometry, stats, recreational math, etc.) You can see it here:

Keep up the excellent work!
