Over at Little Miss Kindergarten, Mrs. Coe and her Kindergartners from Veda Knox Elementary in Arlington, Texas, decided to add their own creative twist to the November Calendar Grid.

Bridges Smart Board Files

A special thanks goes out to Connie Tibbetts and Dina Dobler from Jessup Elementary in Cheyenne, WY. They were kind enough to create and share the K-2 Bridges displays for their SMART Boards. These displays will also work if you have a Promethean Board.

Square Cat

Life is rough. Especially when you're Eula, a Square Cat. Eula lives in a round world. She can't get through mouse holes. If she tips over, she's stuck. Even cat fashion is designed for round felines like her friends, Patsy and Maude. When her companions try to help her feel round--with hoop earrings, a beehive hat, and doughnuts--things don't work out the way they hoped.

Outdoor 100s Grid

Guest blogger Sydney Cohn is a first-grade teacher at Hopkins Elementary School in Gwinnett County, Lilburn, Georgia.

By now we've all heard of the need to reach our bodily-kinesthetic learners. It's such a treat when we are able to do this during our math lessons. Yes, there's the obvious jumping or hopping while you are skip counting, but how about a life size 100s grid outside?

3-D Shapes Rap!

Looking for a rap to examine 3-D shapes? Pia Hansen, author of Bridges Grade 3, sent in a link to a YouTube video, 3D Shapes I Know. The rap includes four shapes--sphere, cylinder, cube and cone--with many, many "real world" examples pictured. It's catchy. "Here are the 3-D shapes that. I. know." I'm having a hard time getting it out of my head!
