Bridges Units Resource & Tech Links – Grade 3

The following resources extend beyond the current Bridges program and complement specific Bridges Units. These resources may be used to provide students additional challenge or support or teachers may decide to share some of them with families so students can review content at home.

Sessions on the matrix include reference to the CCSS Supplement Sets listed in the order recommended by the CCSS Pacing Guide.

Bridge Doubles - simple game in which player doubles a number to complete a bridge, allowing a car to drive over. 5 Game Addition - Doubles Takes player straight through doubling  numbers 1-10, then starts again with 1.
Ann & Addem's Dartboard Game - hit the ring just outside the number on the dartboard that must be doubled to equal the target number. 5 Game Addition - Doubles In order to grab the dart the player must click precisely on the dart tip.
Math Lines  - The player races to pair numbers that add up to 10. Before your child plays, review the pairs of numbers that add up to 10. 6 Game Addition Site contains advertising. Fun game. Goes with Work Place 1A & 1C.
Number Pairs - repair a slide by finding the number pairs that add up to 20. 6 Game Addition After mastering number pairs to 20, players go on to explore number pairs to 100, followed by number pairs for various target numbers.
Bonds of Ten - Set a whale free by adding pipe sections with numbers to make ten. 6 Game Addition Great "make 10" game.
Make the Sum - demonstration video features the game from Session 6.   6 Video Addition Students combine cards to make a target sum between 10 and 20.

Falling Sums - A beat-the-clock game in which the player has to decide whether an addition or subtraction combination will be less than or greater than 10. 5-20 Game Addition & Subtraction Background information. In a more challenging version, the player decides whether an addition or subtraction combination will be less than or greater than 100. This game is great for developing number sense and estimation skills.
Jet Ski Addition - solve addition problems by choosing correct answer from 3 given choices. Move jet ski along and compete against the computer or other players. 5-20 Game Addition

Sum Sense Subtraction - drag & drop number cards to make a subtraction number sentence. 14-20 Game Subtraction  
Subtraction Blast   The player can subtract either 2 or 3 from a number as many times as he or she wants to. The goal is to get each number to 0 as quickly as possible. 14-20 Game Subtraction Talk with students about how they can  get numbers to 0 quickly. (For example, you can get 10 to 0 by subtracting 2 five times, or you can subtract 2 twice and 3 twice.) Site contains ads. Press M to mute sound.

Unit 2 – Place Value Structures & Multi-Digit Computation

Sir Cumference and All the King's Tens - Sir Cumference & Lady Di need to figure out a quick way to count the guests coming to their party. Mental Maths Fridge Magnet Game - solve a 2 digit addition problem by dragging magnets on a fridge. 19, All Game Addition Good for mental math practice with adding 2 digit numbers. Choose timed or not timed versions.

Addition of Three-Digit Numbers - select numbers between 1 and 999 to add. Numbers are automatically entered into an equation; base ten pieces are created to match. Place Value Game - create the largest possible number from the digits given. Only one digit is given at a time, so think carefully before placing a digit. 15 Game Place Value Game allows you to select: number of digits, largest number of digit used, how many numbers you may discard. Lunch Lady - add up the price of students' lunches before time runs out. 1-4 Game Money Players must add three lunches at a time, all totaling amounts close to $1. Site contains ads. Background music with game.
Cash Out - sell as many items as possible before time runs out. Make change for each customer by clicking on correct coins. 1-4 Activity Money Choose from levels of difficulty.
Learn to Count Money - count money by clicking & dragging coins & bills into box. 1-4 Activity Money Becomes progressively more difficult as students master levels. Level 1, count to 99 cents. Level 2, count to $10. Level 3, count to $100. Also choose from beginner (and combinatin of coins) and expert levels (least number of bills & coins.)
Sums Stacker - drag coins from stack to stack until the sum of each stack equals the target number. 1-4 Game Money Choose money mode. Try to make as few moves as possible. Choose from solve or race modes.
Connect Sums - Click on values that add up to target sum. Clicked items must be next to each other. 1-4 Game Money Select the money mode.
Coin Combo - click on coins to equal total money value shown. Coins continually fall in columns; when a column fills, game is over. 1-4 Game Money Levels increase in difficulty, starting with nickels & dimes and small money values and increasing to larger coins and money amounts. Fun.
Ordering Fractions Game - put fractions in order. 5, 7, 8, 14, Game Fractions - Ordering

Fraction Number Line - place fractions from 0-2 on a number line. This activity also shows the equivalents in decimals and percentages. Supplement A5 Activity Fractions  
Fraction Tracks - 2 player game in which students race from 0-1 by moving across a series of tracks marked with different fractions. Supplement A5 Game Fractions Add, compare, and find equivalent fractions.
