Number Corner Resource & Tech Links – Grade 2

The following resources extend beyond the current Bridges program and complement specific months of Number Corner. These resources may be used to provide students additional challenge or support or teachers may decide to share some of them with families so students can review content at home.

Spooky Sequences - find the missing number for a ghost in this 2s counting sequence. Daily Number Chart Game Counting Patterns Same game also available in counting by 5s, and 10s.
Super Sequencer - choose start number and counting sequence. Program displays count sequence. Select from 3 speeds. Daily Number Chart Activity Counting Patterns Could be used as teaching tool in whole group instruction. Click on "more" for teaching ideas.
Factorize - create rectangular arrays and explore their factors. NCTM. Magnetic Tile Activity Factors Possible teaching tool - enter the number for today's date and explore factorizations together. Works with numbers from 2-50. Could also serve as an extension for students; by choosing "automatic number" mode they must find all factors of that number.
Class Clock - a clock tool for teaching time. Display for whole class instruction. Bean Clock Activity Time Display analog or digital clocks. Advance clock hands by increments of: 1, 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes or 1 hour. Could be used as another way to show what's happening on the bean clock.
Coin Box - variety of activities to count, collect, exchange, and make change for coins. From NCTM. Coin Collector Activity Money Use as a whole group activity until students are familiar with the various features.
Sums Stacker - drag coins from stack to stack until the sum of each stack equals the target number. Coin Collector Game Money Choose money mode. Try to make as few moves as possible. Choose from solve or race modes.
Connect Sums - Click on values that add up to target sum. Clicked items must be next to each other. Coin Collector Game Money Select the money mode.
Coin Combo - click on coins to equal total money value shown. Coins continually fall in columns; when a column fills, game is over. Coin Collector Game Money Levels increase in difficulty, starting with nickels & dimes and small money values and increasing to larger coins and money amounts. Fun.

Calendar Grid

Game Number Patterns Game can be set for any start number and any counting-by sequence. Students explore multiples of 3 & 4 in this month's Calendar Grid.
Connect the Dots: Multiples - connect the dot game in which player counts dots using multiples. Calendar Grid Activity Number Patterns Audio directions. Site contains ads.
Adventure Sequences - help Molly cross the bridge by entering the next number in the sequence. The "really hard" level is a 4s counting pattern. Calendar Grid Game Number Patterns Levels range from counting by 1 at medium level to 4s pattern at really hard level.
Saucer Sorter - teaching tool. Students close eyes as teacher covers a number on a number line or moves numbers around. Students then figure out the missing number or sort numbers. 100 Number Chart - move 20 numbers to the correct place on a 100s grid. (Advanced level.) Hundreds Grid Game Number Patterns Oral instructions for nonreaders. The beginner level asks players to place 2 missing numbers on a single number line.

Bridge Doubles - simple game in which player doubles a number to complete a bridge, allowing a car to drive over. Magnetic Tile Game Addition - Doubles Takes player straight through doubling  numbers 1-10, then starts again with 1.
Ann & Addem's Dartboard Game - hit the ring just outside the number on the dartboard that must be doubled to equal the target number. Magnetic Tile Game Addition - Doubles In order to grab the dart the player must click precisely on the dart tip.

Centipede's 100 Shoes - a little centipede buys shoes to protect his feet but finds that they are a lot of trouble to put on and take off. Hundreds Grid Book Addition Cute book to explore combinations that add to 100.
