Bridges Sessions Resource & Tech Links – Kindergarten

 

The following resources extend beyond the current Bridges program and complement specific Bridges Sessions. These resources may be used to provide students additional challenge or support or teachers may decide to share some of them with families so students can review content at home. Some activity instructions may need to be read to Kindergarten students. Many activities can be used during whole group instruction projected from a computer or an IWB.Sessions on the matrix include reference to the CCSS Supplement Sets listed in the order recommended by the CCSS Pacing Guide.

Name That Number - Cookie Monster asks viewer to click on a given number. Three numbers displayed. When correct answer is selected, objects are counted. Count's Magical Numbers - select the cloud with number of objects that matches another cloud. You may need to click on the correct game below the larger game window. Any Activity Number Recognition, Counting Choose from 3 clouds. Objects are first arranged identically to the given number. Later, objects are placed in a different arrangement and players can choose number to represent the items.
Number Rack App - free app from MLC. Rows of moveable, colored beads encourage learners to think in groups of fives and tens, helping them to explore addition/subtraction strategies. Any iApp Counting Use online version or load to iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad.
Animal Lost and Found - help find the lost pet by identifying correct number of eyes, ears, mouth. Any Game Counting Adult must read instructions. Mute repetitive music.

How Many Ants Do You See? - count the ants and click on the corresponding number. Any Activity Counting Audio directions. Ants are grouped and color coded in a variety of ways to practice counting strategies.

Shifting Shapes - a simple 2-D shape is hidden on the screen. Use a small window to look at parts of the shape. Can you guess what it is? Repeating Patterns - build patterns of colored eggs on a grid. TESiboard. 15 Activity Patterns Designed for whole group instruction.
Pattern Matcher - find the repeating pattern that matches a given pattern. 15 Activity Patterns Level 1 shows the same set of pictures. In Level 2 the same pattern is shown but with different pictures.

Dot Pattern - complete the colored dot pattern sequence. 15 Activity Patterns Challenge. Level of difficulty varies within the activity; ranges from simple ABAB pattern to ABCBD.
Beadstring Patterns - create your own pattern sequence. Select from 5 colors and 5 shapes. 15 Activity Patterns Students could make their own patterns or the teacher could make patterns during whole group instruction. Teacher might purposely reverse a color and ask students to locate the mistake. Or have students help to develop an ABAB sequence.

Pattern Bugs - insects illustrate simple patterns. Rhyming text demonstrates the same pattern. For example, the bee page shows an AAAB pattern through text, “Buzz-buzz-buzz-sip,” the colors of the striped bees--yellow, yellow, yellow, black--and the colored border--orange, orange, orange, yellow. 15 Book Patterns Also see Pattern Fish by the same author.

Butterfly Ten Frame - count the number of butterflies. Identify how many flew away (from the ten frame) and how many are left. 23, 26 Game Counting

Tally Marks Up to 10 - in this quiz-like program, students type in the number of tally marks shown, from 1-10. 25 Activity Tallying Could be used as a teacher-led activity. Tally Marks Up to 20 provides an additional challenge for students.
